Materials

The leather used in Paccas products is manufactured in Finland. In the manufacturing process, the leather is processed to suit Finnish conditions, dyed through and finished with a surface color, as well as a water- and dirt-repellent leather cover. The leather modification process meets the chemical regulations under REACH.

Sheep's button leather is a soft, flexible, windproof and naturally breathable material. The leather has been treated as water repellent and is very durable.

At the same time, the reindeer belly is strong, but silky. A well-warmed material that can be combined with a thick lining without ability to use. The end result is a luxurious, high-end product.

Reindeer napa leather is an ethical and ecological choice. Reindeer roam freely in nature and leather is a by-product of meat industry. The carbon footprint of reindeer leather is low. Reindeer don’t require heated indoor structures to live or a industrial feed process. Transportation distance from supply to manufacturer to Paccas is short.

Deer button leather is soft and firm, like reindeer leather and similarlye and ecological choice. Like reindeer, deer roam freely in finnish nature. Deer are hunted judiciously to maintain the delicate balance between the population and the forest damage it causes. All the deer skin we use comes from Finnish hunters and is modified in Kokkola. Like reindeer leather, the carbon footprint of deer leather is small.

Merino wool mountain is very warm. Its comfort, heat, breathability and moisture transfer have made it one of the most sought after materials in extreme conditions. The lining feels warm and dry even when wet. Merino wool is an antibacterial material and does not collect odours even after longer use. Merino wool used by the mountain manufacturer is mulesing-free.

50% merino wool lining It is warm thanks to merino wool, but polyester has been added to it to improve its wear resistance.

The polyester lining is warm and improves windproofing, among other things. Polyester is versatile and therefore a popular artificial fiber. Polyester absorbs very little moisture and therefore dries quickly. Good properties include strength, elastia, abrasion.

A genuine fur lining is a luxurious and absolutely warm option with gloves as a lining material. Sheep fur is the most ecological of the mountain options, as it is a by-product of the meat industry and does not consume much energy to make it. Fur is also a very biodegradable material.

Finnfill Is the patented lining material used in our lathes. The Lining is 50% merino wool, 50% polyester.
Finnfill combines the comfortabilty, warmth and breathability of merino wool with the softness of polyester to offer a wonderfully light and warm lining in gloves. Finnfill is produced in Finland.

Paccas strives to recycle or reuse all surplus material of the manufacturing process.
